Brief Project Description
Astra completed the installation of an Engineered Material Arresting System (EMAS) on the Runway 21L Approach End to address the safety area limits per Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidelines and the approved Airport Layout Plan (ALP). The project incorporated safety area grading, including a retaining wall, installation of the EMAS System and lead-in ramp, the relocation of the localizer beyond the new safety area limits, associated airfield electrical improvements, drainage improvements, marking, and erosion control.
